Philo California Information
If you're traveling along picturesque Highway 128 and you reach the town of Philo, you'll be in the heart of Northern California's newest wine region. Philo and the nearby town of Navarro boast some of the best up-and-coming wineries in the breathtaking Anderson Valley. Be sure to stop for a taste or two.Philo is also located close to the Hendy Woods State Park and the Indian Creek County Park. The former has several miles of nature trails that wind along the pretty Navarro River and provides 25 picnic groves so you can enjoy a quiet meal in the park and provides areas for visitors to swim and bike as well. Indian Creek is small but provides pristine campgrounds along the creek for car camping only. The redwood canopies in both parks keep it cool and comfortable during the summer months.
The local Wellspring Renewal Center presents an Art and Music Camp each year in late July or early August. For nearly two decades, visitors to Philo have been able to enjoy an intergenerational retreat that allows guests of all ages to hobnob with poets, musicians, painters, and crafters; taking classes, watching informative demonstrations, or listening to concerts.
