Tour of "Through the Viewfinder: Mendocino Landscapes" set for last day of exhibit

The final day of "Mendocino Landscapes: Through the Viewfinder," the current exhibition at Grace Hudson Museum, will be celebrated with a free guided tour by Marvin Schenck, exhibition curator, on Sunday, February 7, at 2 p.m. The exhibit showcases the work of four coastal and four inland Mendocino County landscape photographers. In his role as curator Schenck looked at the works of expert photographers from around the county and selected artists who bring a strikingly unique artistic perception to their work and who collectively utilize a broad range of color and camera formats.

Schenck will discuss the factors that led to the selection of each photographer, the relationship of the various camera and color formats to the finished works, and the special touches that make certain photographs stand out in his mind. The Grace Hudson Museum is at 431 S. Main St. in Ukiah. For more information please call 707-467-2836 or go to www.gracehudsonmuseum.org. The next exhibit, "Space, Silence, Spirit: Maynard Dixon's West" will open on February 28, 2010.
