About Anchor Bay
The pretty town of Anchor Bay, located in Southern Mendocino County, is considered part of the 'banana belt', thanks to its unique micro-climate - which is warmer and less foggy and windy than surrounding parts of the county - due to a warm column of air that spills over the protective coastal mountains from inland.

Located between the towns of Point Arena and Gualala, Anchor Bay - population less than 200 - provides visitors with a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean. Schooner Gulch State Beach is a favorite attraction for guests making a stop at Anchor Bay, providing an opportunity to hike, fish, windsurf, or watch the seasonal migration of whales.

You won't find any lodging here but there are a handful of delis, cafes, and general stores where you can grab all the fixings you need for a picnic lunch at Schooner Gulch Beach or where you might partake of a meal overlooking the picturesque Pacific.
