About Laytonville
Located on Highway 101, Laytonville is one of the last places to stop on that highway before it heads slightly westward and merges with Highway 1, heading into neighboring Humboldt County, California. Laytonville is an attractive farming town, offering a few neat and clean lodging options for travelers who wish to stay here. The town also provides several quality places to stop for a bite to eat when traveling along 101.

The town boasts 2,500 residents and the community has been enhanced by the presence of a number of local artists and musicians who've decided to call the town home. It's fun to browse the galleries in Laytonville and perhaps go home with a Northern California original. The Cahto Indian Reservation is also located in Laytonville, reflecting the town's rich Native American history.

Laytonville boasts a sort of 'pioneer spirit', recognized in the friendliness of the community members and displayed in events like the annual Laytonville Rodeo, which takes place each June.

This Long Valley town is also the U.S. location of the Earthdance Global Dance Festival for Peace, the world's largest simultaneous music and dance event, which is held here each year in mid-September and draws huge crowds to Northern California. For even more music, check out the Kate Wolf Music Festival, named for a folk singer from this region who gained national recognition in her art before she passed away in 1986.
