Driving to the Mendocino County

There are several ways to travel to the Coast of Mendocino. All are beautiful but none are rather quick. The choice of route is often determined by your starting location. To generalize, there are three directions from which you may be traveling; North, South or East.

FROM THE SOUTH:
If you are coming from the Bay Area, such as San Francisco, or from the Sacramento Valley.

ROUTE 128
Take Highway 101 to Highway 128 at Cloverdale. Traveling this road will take you through Anderson Valley, a wonderful area filled with mom-and-pop wineries, a redwood forest, and homey bed and breakfast inns. Highway 128 follows the Navarro River ending at the Pacific Ocean and the Navarro State Beach. Head North to the village of Mendocino and Fort Bragg, or South to Point Arena, Elk, and Gualala. This way can be a little faster then Highway 1.

RIVER ROAD TO 116 AND JENNER
This way can be taken just north of Santa Rosa, cutting off on River Road, which will take you through the colorful town of Guerneville.
