To the many individuals who live in Mendocino County year-round, education is important. A number of Mendocino schools have won awards for excellence and the citizens of the area are dedicated to providing an exemplary education for their children.
There are 10 unified school districts and two independent elementary schools in the county of Mendocino. Districts include Anderson Valley, Fort Bragg, Laytonville, Leggett, Mendocino, Potter Valley, Point Arena, Round Valley, Ukiah, and Willits.
For higher education, students can choose Mendocino College, a community college located in Ukiah. This pretty 127-acre campus boasts an excellent library, a vocational/technical facility, an agricultural services building, a science complex, a center for visual and performing arts, and a physical education complex.
The College of the Redwoods has a campus in the town of Fort Bragg. This college offers degrees in a variety of subjects, ranging from aquaculture to tourism and everything in between. The Mendocino Coast campus is especially well-known for its marine science program.
