Anderson Valley Historical Museum

Description : Vintage farming equipment and memorabilia. The Anderson Valley Historical Society is a non-profit, volunteer organization. Collecting, researching, and sharing the rich history of Anderson Valley is both our mission and our pleasure! Our museum is centrally located a half-mile northwest of Boonville in the Con Creek Schoolhouse. Built in 1891, it taught children of lumberjacks and sheep farmers for almost ninety years before closing in 1979, when it was purchased by The Community Services District with an agreement that it would be leased to the Anderson Valley Historical Society for use as a museum.

Point Cabrillo Lighthouse

Description : The Point Cabrillo Lightstation a California State Historic Park, includes the historic 1909 Light Station (30.5 acres), and approximately 270 acres of undeveloped coastal bluffs and prairie. The property was purchased and preserved from development in 1992 by the California State Coastal Conservancy and managed by a non-profit affiliate, the North Coast Interpretive Association.

Founded in 1972, Kelley House Museum, Inc. maintains a beautiful house museum and gardens, as well as the Mendocino Coast’s only museum-quality storage facility and staffed research office. Our research archives represent over 150 years of Mendocino coastal history. Collections include historic photo collections, local genealogical data, research documents and publications. Over 3000 entries of maps, documents, books, photographs, oral histories and artifacts from our collection are searchable through our site.

Description : History on the North Coast region.The Museum is located in the heart of the county in the town of Willits, on a parkway that links the Skunk Depot, Frontier Days Rodeo Grounds, Recreation Grove, and the Willits Skate Park, as well as the Willits Library and Soccer Fields.Co-located with the Museum is Roots of Motive Power, a volunteer organization that collects and restores historic steam-powered trains, engines, and logging machines.Stop by for a fascinating visit with a shipwreck, a "hippie" van, stagecoaches and steam engines, Pomo baskets and Seabiscuit. Temple Kwan Tai Museum

Description : A Chinese Taoist temple built by the first Chinese settlers in the early 1850's. It s the oldest taoist temple in Northern Califonia. The temple is dedicated to Kwan Tai, the Chinese god of war. The outside of the building has a sign that saysfrom (ight to left) "mo Dai Miu", translates to mean "Temple to the Military God"

Description : Library of local hisitory and photos.The Held-Poage Memorial Home and Research Library Open Wednesday through Friday from 1-4 p.m.Directions: Take Perkins Street exit off Highway 101. Drive West on Perkins Street to Dora. The home is located on the Southwest corner of Perkins and Dora. The Entrance to the library is on the Dora Street side. An easy access ramp is located on the Perkins Street side.The place to peek into Mendocino County's past is the Held-Poage Memorial Home and Research Library. A veritable treasure trove for historical buffs, the library contains over 4500 books covering local, state and national history, as well as over 13,500 historical photographic negatives

Ford House Museum

Description : 1894 lumber mill house and state parks visitor center. The mid-19th-century home of Jerome Bursley Ford, the founder of Mendocino, today serves as a visitors center on the region.
