Welcome to the Mendocino Cafe, where we pride ourselves on serving our local and global community international cuisine composed of ingredients healthy for the planet and our customers.

Reading the menu is akin to following my (the owner's) travels over the years, eating my way across Southern China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Italy, France, Amsterdam, Kenya (where they eat with their fingers, which is my preference) and many winters in Mexico chasing my kids around, nagging them to do their homework and running interference against "Frutes Loopes."

Our produce, beans and rice are certified organic. Our chickens are free range and our meats come from a local ranch in Covelo where they are fed NO antiobiotics, growth hormones, GMO grains, or meat products. We strive to not take a life from anything that didn't have one.

Perusing the Wine List also will inform you about my proclivities, including a definite tilt to the reds. If you are wine savy, you will notice remarkable wines at reasonable prices, particularly limited or allocated vintages. That is because, as with wanting to feed cafe guests as I would my family (who are often eating and/or working there), I consider discovering great wines with my fellow afficienados in mind, buying up wine treasures and burying them in my closet for a year or three until they are truly Divine Wines, one of the great pleasures and rewards of my occupation.

Most of all, the Mendocino Cafe endeavors to provide an eating experience, enhanced by maginificent garden and ocean views, dedicted to nourishing both body and spirit. Please join us!

Directions from San Francisco / Bay Area:

Head across the Golden Gate Bridge, going north on Hwy 101. Travel approx. 94 miles/1hr. 40min. to Cloverdale. Take the last Cloverdale exit, which will read Hwy 128 West I Fort Bragg, Mendocino. (Hwy 128 turns into Hwy 1 when you see the ocean) From Cloverdale to Mendocino it's approx. 68 miles / 1hr. 45min. on a very curvy Hwy.

You will reach the town of Booneville about halfway along, then the beautiful Redwoods - (along this stretch are several good wineries to visit). As you reach Mendocino, and cross the "Big River Bridge", you'll take the first entrance into the Village marked "Main Street". From the Golden Gate Bridge to Mendocino it's approx. 162 miles / 3hr. 20min.
