Traveling With Pets:

We don't just tolerate your pets, we enjoy their visit! There is a $10 fee for each friendly pet that is traveling with you that covers your entire stay with us. If you are making an online reservation, there will be an opportunity to let us know the number of pets that will be coming at the end of the reservation process.

Travel By Car Checklist

1. If your dog or cat is not used to traveling by car, make short trips with the pet a week or two in advance of the trip to accustom it to motion and to teach it how to behave.
2. Dogs should be taught to lie quietly, keep their heads inside, and not annoy the driver or passengers. Don't let your dog stick his head in the wind. It can irritate eyes and cause problems.
3. Cats are often frightened by car travel, but some cats adjust quickly. Some persons allow the cat to find its own place in the car; others feel it is best to confine a cat to its carrier.
4. Folding kennels or crates especially designed for station wagons can be most useful for dogs and cats.
5. Accustom your pet to being on a leash and harness. Always use the leash when traveling. Even better is a pet harness (available at most pet stores) that connects to the car's seatbelt; it allows the pet some movement while keeping it safely restrained. Your pets can bolt into traffic or become lost in a strange place if not properly restrained.
6. If stopping overnight, check in advance to find a motel that will permit your pet to spend the night.
7. Be sure that your pet is properly tagged and its rabies tag firmly attached.
8. Pet travel kit: pet food, food and water dishes, can opener (if needed), a few treats, a favorite toy, a blanket, comb or brush.
9. Also, to be on the safe side: a sedative (if prescribed by your veterinarian), paper towels, spray room deodorant if you will be staying overnight at a hotel or motel, a scooper and plastic bag to clean up after your pet.

Pet Travel & Health Tips

* In addition to a standard identification tag (which should be labeled with your name, home address and phone number), your pet's collar should include a travel tag with information on where you are staying while away from home. Should your pet become lost, this will allow you to be contacted locally.
* Perform a daily "health check" on your pet when away from home. In unfamiliar surroundings, your pet's appetite, energy, and disposition may change. Watch for unusual discharges from the nose and eyes, excessive scratching or biting of any body part, unusual lumps, limping, loss of appetite, abnormal elimination, or excessive water consumption. Visit a local veterinarian if you are concerned about any physical or behavioral changes.
* When traveling by car, pack a simple pet first-aid kit that includes assorted bandages, antiseptic cream, an antidiarrheal medication that is safe for pets (ask your veterinarian to suggest a product), gauze squares, and the phone numbers of your veterinarian, a national poison control hotline, and a 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital.
* Except for seeing eye dogs accompanying blind persons, pets are not permitted on buses and trains. Notify the airline, bus, or train company that a seeing eye dog is accompanying you.

We love having your pet as our guest. However, we do have a few rules to make your pet's stay a little happier:

* We require that you do not leave your pet unattended in the room. Leaving them alone makes them unhappy and they will howl and bark even if they don't at home; they are not home and feel abandoned. This will make us, as well as our other guests, very unhappy.
* We ask that you don't allow your dog to run free on our grounds without a leash. Your dog may be friendly but the other guests may not be 'pet friendly'. Also, the highway is closer than you think.
* Please pickup waste after your pet. The next person walking our grounds would appreciate it.
* We ask that your don't bring your pets into the lobby during the continental breakfast hours (8am to 10am). The health inspector doesn't like it very much.

We thank you for your cooperation and hope you and your pet enjoy your stay.
