Additional information
The Philo Pottery Inn is located in the tiny hamlet of Philo which was settled in true pioneer fashion by a few settlers who came out west in the early 1800's. The first settlers planted fruit orchard, farmed, and grazed sheep and cattle on the beautiful rolling hills of our valley. In the early 1970's the first winemakers found the valley and realized that the climate is ideal for growing such grapes as Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Chardonnay. The valley famous for its excellent Pinot Noirs and sparkling wines is home to a number of excellent wineries (i.e.Roederer, Husch, Navarro); all of them just minutes from the Philo Pottery Inn. Spend a day exploring the local wineries, where the people are friendly and the tasting is still free. Take walk among the majestic redwoods in Hendy Woods state park, walk along the Navarro river and find your very own private swimming hole. Try out one of the local eateries, browse the local art galleries or take a short drive to the northern California coast and the village of Mendocino.
