Emergency Services
Broadcasting from Irish Beach to Bodega Bay in the event of any emergency ranging from power outtages to major catastrophic events. We have an Emergency Alert System which channels NOAA and the office of emergency services for both Mendocino and Sonoma counties. We test our EAS system weekly to make sure it's functioning correctly. We work in conjunction with Louise Dewilder Emergency Operations for The Sea Ranch and have recently participated in an earthquake readiness drill. We also have a liaison with the Ham radio group up here and a Ham operator here on site at the studio to assist us in emergency situations. The Hams are great for scanning and filtering info as well as being on the scene, mobile reporters. We take this roll very seriously, considering it our most important community service - we are afte rall the Voice On The Redwood Coast. People depend on us to get the word out. We have a Tsunami Warning Test coming up on March 23 between 10 am - 11 am- done in conjunction with the NOAA & Office of Emergency Services for Mendocino, Humboldt, and Del Norte counties.
