"There is no better life than to study the world with paintbrush in hand and a heart full of love and gratitude." ...Erin Dertner
The family has worked together to make the Laurel Street building a dream come true. Tomas is a great visionary that can bring all the loose ends together during construction, while Erin and the boys, Abe and Levi, get in on the design phase of each project, though the boys are in and out of town while they pursue their dreams of music and film respectively. They continually have several irons in the fire and are happy to "talk shop" anytime you pop in. Whether it be art, remodeling or matters of the heart and spirit, they are a lively bundle of energy and friendship.
Sunlight and sea, ambling pathways and rustic dwellings have been Erin’s inspirations since the age of 9. Learning first from her mother and later from a variety of teachers throughout her life, she has developed a style that is relatable, thoughtful and infused with light. Travel has played a formidable role in her development as she relishes each opportunity to explore the warm European environs of Greece, France and Italy as well the Hawaiian Islands and choice locations in America the beautiful. Giving workshops allows Erin to share her zeal for painting, for adventure and for meeting special people. Her artwork is on display at numerous galleries and competitions throughout the country.

Working with teachers such as Marilyn Simandle, Edward Betts, LaVere Hutchings, Don O’Neill, Pamela Rogers, Gail Chase-Bien, Ted Goerschner, Gerald Brommer, Leo Smith, Mary Snowden-Beck, Jean Dobie, Judi Betts, Ovanes Berberian, Louise DeMore, Hope Stevenson, Susan Sarback, Bob Burridge, Charles Sovek, Kim English, Camille Przewodek and Ken Auster has presented her with a broad range of expertise in watercolor, dry pastel, oils and acrylics.

Painting, studying, and teaching the subject of light is her driving force. The cool shadows of the early morning and those that fall long and warm in the evening enliven
