Essential Oils: The Perfect Holiday Gift

If you haven’t noticed, it’s the holiday season. Thanksgiving is three weeks from today, and the department and grocery stores already have their Christmas merchandise and decorations on full display.

It’s never too early to start thinking about gifts. Procrastinate, and you’ll regret it. That’s why we recommend giving essential oils as gifts this holiday season.

Essential oils are wonderful for their aromatic properties. There’s such a wide variety that the possibilities are endless when it comes to aromatherapy. You can give people single oils, or blends. One of our favorites this time of year is peppermint oil. Its bright, fresh fragrance is the perfect for spreading holiday cheer.

Essential oils are also great for massages. One great gift idea is to give someone you love coconut or another type of carrier oil, along with a scented oil you think they will love. Lavender oil is super relaxing and calming. You can add a few drops to your massage oil or place a couple of drops in a bath for a soothing soak.

One of the best ways yo enjoy essential oils is through a diffuser. Diffusers use micro-vibrations to turn essential oil and water into a super-fine mist, without using heat. Diffusers come in all shapes and sizes, and many come with beautiful lighting displays. If you really want to surprise someone this holiday season, give them a bottle or two of essential oil along with a beautiful diffuser.

And don’t wait until Christmas day to deliver your present. Give your essential oil gift to your friends and family early on so they can enjoy it the whole holiday season.

Not all essential oils are just for fragrance. Many of them contain other beneficial properties. Citrus oils like lemon and orange make excellent homemade cleaners. Melaleuca oil, from the tea tree plant, is actually very handy. It is naturally antiseptic and soothes and heals cuts, scrapes, bites, and burns. That’s why it is found in many first aid kits. The natural properties of Melaleuca alternifolia, which is the plant’s scientific name, are simply remarkable.

There are plenty of places online to purchase essential oils. However, not all products are alike. Look for oils that are 100 percent pure. Also, some companies make outrageous marketing claims about their oils—none of them true—then charge way too much for their oils. Just spend a little time comparing prices and quality for the best deals.

Your family and friends will love getting essential oil as a gift this holiday season.
